Some company backgrounds

Rambøll is a leading international engineering, architectural and consulting company founded in Denmark in 1945. Today, Rambøll employs 16,500 people. Rambøll has a global presence with a strong representation in the Nordic region, the United Kingdom, North America, Continental Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
They are represented in 35 countries and combines local experience with global knowledge to deliver inspiring solutions that makes a difference for customers, end users and society as a whole.

The challenge

When the Corona crisis hit the company Ramboll and a number of their public customers closing down their projects, it was impossible to use the current 2020 budget. The world had changed and there was great uncertainty about ongoing and new projects around the world.
Ramboll was in a situation where the original budget was almost useless in the new reality.
The current budget process was designed to follow up every quarter and therefore the model could not be used to follow up at the speed required by the crisis. There was a need for a new model that could collect status daily / weekly, so that the Management Team gets updated insight and the opportunity to make the necessary decisions in time in relation to the development of the business around the world.
Ramboll started by building an Excel model, as most people do to get a quick solution started, but it quickly turned out that the model did not work. There were problems with the many independent spreadsheets, collection, and consolidation - It was a requirement that it all happened dynamically, automatically and quickly.

The solution

Ramboll contacted Qbit and introduced us to the case and their need for fast delivery. With Jedox as a toolbox, we helped Ramboll within a few weeks to implement a digital integrated simulation.
A modern and integrated model that can be used globally and in the individual business areas, for management and for forecasting as well as "rolling" ongoing and future expectations for new projects over time. At the head office, all forecasts are consolidated automatically when the individual countries / areas have registered.
The new solution delivers a digital readiness to make continuous simulation based on baseline with several simulation models.
Each business area makes a "Check-out" for its area, where they can work with different simulation- and forecasts models - and can decide on initiatives and action plans which end with a "Check-in" of the forecast to the head office.
The solution manages a global "Check-out" and "Check-in" which is automatically consolidated into an overall Profit and Loss, where the management can promptly see the result of the new reality and from there decide which measures to initiate.
The solution is built with the German success software from Jedox, which in Europe's largest CPM market survey has been rated by users as the best digitization platform.
